Champ – The Olympic All-Star Collection

Yellow Male Mix, 2-3 years old, 73 lbs.

I’m Champ, be forewarned, I’ll knock you out with my charm and good looks. I was picked up wandering the streets of Fresno and waited and waited for my family to come pick me up from doggy jail.  I was there for two months surviving on my charming personality and good looks. Things got desperate when I hurt my paw. You know what that means in a place like that?  Thank goodness the defenders of dogs, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno showed up when they did. Home with a bed, playmate, paw fixed up. I’m ready for a loving family to adopt me so I can get back to showing off my champion ways all day.

Champ still has some puppy energy and will need daily exercise. He loves to play fetch and tug, but stuffed animals won’t last long. He is super quick to learn, knows sit, down, off, and NO (he thinks it’s his middle name). He hasn’t walked much on a leash before and will need someone who can invest the time to work on his obedience skills. An athletic dog that with some training will be a true Champ.

Champ is fine with other dogs his size and loves to run and play. He’s been introduced to cats and a tortoise and has shown some prey drive so probably best in a home without cats or small animals. He’ a high energy silly puppy who at times and not quite aware of his surroundings when he’s playing, the broken limbs on plants will grow back but best in a house without small (under 7) children.

Champ is house trained and has learned how to use the doggie door. He sleeps all night in a crate and during the day would love to lie on your feet. He’ll put a paw on the furniture just to test your seriousness, if you let him he’ll be in your lap snuggling and kissing like a titleholder. He can be reactive to new people, blowing leaves, clouds, and butterflies and needs someone who will set boundaries for appropriate social behaviors.Champ is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is currently being fostered in a home with two other labs, two cats and a tortoise. He is very loving and wants to please. He is still a puppy at heart and will need daily exercise and training to grow into a lifelong companion. It will be important that everyone in the household be able to  reinforce his training and give him a consistent message.
