Dodger is a 1 year old bundle of fun! He is wonderful with other dogs and knows how to sit. He will be easy to housebreak, as he calms down well in the house. Dodger is completely crate trained. He needs lots of exercise and a secure yard. Dodger is still a puppy and will need some obedience training, but he learns quickly. He is great with children and LOVES to ride in the car.

Dodger was brought in with a poorly vetted broken leg, but it was determined that amputation was not needed. The bone as since healed and he has regained use of the leg. Despite his somewhat limpy gait, he is an active young boy that can live a normal active life. Please consider handsome Dodger as your new family member.

Katy is a 7 month Lab/Golden Retriever yellow female, approx. 40 lbs. Katy knows sit, down, stay and walks well on leash. Katy is crate trained. Katy gets along well with other dogs although she can become a bit pesky with all of her puppy energy. Katy is shy when she first meets people and will require some patience when first meeting new people. Katy plays well with kids once she gets to know them. Katy will require further training and consistency with all that she currently knows. Katy loves her doggie massages and will lovingly lay her head in your lap for a scratch behind the ears!

Cali is her nickname…she was recently found last month (07/2010) near Hwy 152 (Chowchilla area) She was starving and thirsty. She was brought to me and I have nursed her back to health. She is a sweet, loving, friendly and energetic dog but I cannot keep her at the HOA I live in. I listed her as a Found Lab but no one has claimed her. She needs a loving, larger home where she can run and play, plus she gets along great with other dogs. If I could keep her I would. She just wants to play, run and love her forever family. I do not have any history on her. No fee to adopt this lovely dog. Call me at 559-709-2332 or email at hctackitt@yahoo.com

Jake is a 2 year old lab mix … He is 3/4 lab and 1/4 Black Mouth Cur (old Yeller breed). I have had him since he was 8 weeks old and absolutely love everything about him. He is loyal to no end and trustworthy like no other dog I’ve known. He has been raised around my 4 kids and never shown any type of irritation or aggression to them or any other person.
He is true to the breed and LOVES water and playing fetch. He usually gets along well with other dogs but tends to frighten them when on a leash because he rushes to meet them. It is not something that couldn’t be easily managed with a little time invested in training.
Jake is extremely smart and knows many commands, but again, would thrive with someone who took time to work more with him. He is eager to please and mostly interested in following ms around the yard.
My reason for re-homing is because I bit off more than I can chew in the doggie department. I have 4 kids and 3 dogs and the dogs lose out on so much as my priority is my human family. I am also trying to re-home my female basset but Jake is definitely the hardest to let go.
I hope to find an active family or person with plenty of time for him… More than occasional walks around the block that I give.
Thanks for reading!

On Thursday, July 8, Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue Fresno Chapter (CCLRR) received an urgent call from a Madera County Animal Control Officer regarding a 3 year old male Labrador Retriever that she picked up on Tuesday, July 6, with horrific injuries. The officer took pity upon him when she realized he was still alive and he lifted his sweet head to greet her with a painful look. Judging by his condition, the vet staff that is treating the Lab estimates that the dog was dragged from a moving vehicle and left for dead.

He literally has had the underside of his body, paws, knees, scrotum striped off in most places exposing muscle. “Trooper” as he is now called by his caretakers is currently stapled and bandaged together on a morphine patch for pain, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic medications. Because of the high dosage of antibiotics, Trooper has developed a yeast infection.

He is unable to stand and he must be is carried when transported to his every other day vet visits where he is sedated so that his bandages can be changed and wounds can be cleaned. This amazing dog is doing his best to beat the odds with the help of some supportive, caring individuals who are cheering him on. Trooper has an amazing will to live, and is responding to his treatment, but he has a long, painful, road ahead.

The Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue is willing to do what it takes to get Trooper the care that he needs. However, his medical expenses are going to be very high and the volunteer rescue group works off of donations. We are asking for help from the public to assist us with Trooper’s recovery and extensive treatment. Please, any amount would be helpful. Donations can be made directly at the Central California Labrador Retriever’s website www.cclabrescuecvc.org via PayPal or you may send your donation payable to: Trooper c/o CCLRR, PO Box 1484, Clovis CA 93613. Donations are tax deductible and the Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization.

In the meantime, the CCLRR is looking for the owners of Trooper and any information leading to who tortured this dog. Trooper was picked up in Madera County at the Madera Municipal Golf course (Ave 17 & Road 23 ½) on July 6th at 7:30 a.m. If you recognize this Lab or have any information, please contact the CCLRR at dogrescue@sti.net or call the Madera Control Office at 559-675-4275.

Eventually, Trooper will be available for adoption. Stay tuned for regular updates and photos of his progress.

Jazz has been returned to us and is looking for a new place to call home. Jazz’s previous owner is with the fire department and would sometimes be away from home for days at a time. This proved to be too long for Jazz and he became very unhappy and his owner wants only the best for this boy. Jazz is looking for a home where someone is around more often. He’s a sweet guy just lookin for love.

To answer your question about the other lab…yes we are still considering another one, and we look at the website at all the available labs as often as we can. We have yet to see another one that interests us, but we are still interested in adding a playmate to our family for Buddy!!

I’m including some pictures for you of a trip we took last month with Buddy in “duck country” up North. He loved fetching the ball in the tall grass on our friends property. He wore us out!
