Shasta ~ Black Male, 2 years, 80 lbs.

Are you in to outdoor activates, followed by a snuggle by a warm fire? Do you think it’s cool to get down on all fours and play with your pal? Do you have more than one four-legged friend? Value heart and loyalty? If you answered yes to the above, do you have room for one more? My name is Shasta – an elusive Mountain Puppy – and I’m looking to become a beloved member of your family. Adopt me and let the adventure begin!

Me? I am silly and goofy and a very good boy – I’ll play with your puppies, I’ll play with my toys. I jump like a rabbit, and run like a deer – how would you like me as jogging partner, a trail-blazing friend? I know my manners and I don’t jump on strangers. I potty outside and don’t chew the furniture. I am a pretty quiet guy, but will bark to protect my home. Give me some training, all I want is to please. All that being said, my favorite place is always right by your side – your very own elusive Mountain Puppy Shasta (that’s me!)

Now, I should tell you that inside this long-legged athlete’s body, covered in silky, low-maintenance fur, beats a heart of gold. I am loyal and loving and all things that make dogs good, but (yes, I know there is always a but) you need to help me trust you. I promise, I will instantly love my four-legged fur-faced friends, but humans, give me a minute or two to make sure your heart is true. You see, once before I loved and trusted, only to have it betrayed. For reason’s unknown, those who were to protect me left me tied to a tree of an abandoned house. Yes! All true! Lucky for me, the best of the best Rescuers, discovered me there. They showed me there are humans to love, humans you can trust to never abandoned you. They tell me I’m smart, they tell me I’m sweet, that some family will be so happy to have me sleeping near their feet. So, if you have the patience to win my heart, I promise we will have a happy life, my paw prints following in your footsteps. Please, won’t you adopt me and give me a second change to be all that a dog is meant to be?

Shasta is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. This house-trained guy is sweet and gentle and gets along with dogs of all sizes in his foster home. He is house trained, and prefers to be where the family is – outdoors, indoors, as long as you are there. He is a bit camera shy and takes a bit to warm up, but with love and patience, quickly warms up into an awesome guy. Like all young Labradors, a commitment to exercise and training is essential to a happy household. Shasta would prefer to live in a house with other dogs if possible or where he isn’t alone too much.
