Scrappy

Scrappy – The Scooby Doo Collection

Chocolate Male, 6 Years, 71lbs

Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you, you got some where to go now! So, do you remember Scooby Doo? Well, I’m not him. I am the under-respected, underestimated, side-kick Scrappy Doo, always saving the day while Scooby got all the credit! Remember? I was the brave, smart one while Uncle Scooby was scarred and running away! Puppy Power! Well, I was once, but not anymore. Like what happens to so many puppy stars, when we start to grow out of puppy stage, we become forgotten, backyard lawn ornaments. But lucky for me, we are in 2017 where people appreciate us vintage stars and I have been given a second chance; this time in a starring role as the beloved best friend of a super-smart, generous, loving, and accepting family. Are you ready for Scrappy Doo?

So, how did such a famous pup not have a continued career? Well, pretty much, I grew up and everyone forgot about me. I wasn’t the cute little Scrappy side kick anymore. And as the years passed, I grew sadder and sadder, alone in the cold and the heat and the rain. Then when I became a burden (or, maybe my owners didn’t want to feel guilt when they looked at me) I ended up in a “shelter,” better known as a death sentence for most like me. However, I was one of the lucky ones. You see, the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, found me. They took one look at me and saw past the sad-faced, lonely has-been puppy star, and saw instead a handsome, leading Dog who just needed some human kindness and a few acting lessons. And just look at me now! A true Rescue Dog, smiling all the time, needing just you to make me complete.

And you know me – I’m still the smart kid on the block. I just don’t get dogs that go bring something like a stick or ball back to a human when they work so hard to throw it away. Right? How silly is that? No, I would much rather spend my time with you! Lets’ have a grand adventure together. We can take walks on the sand – watch the waves in the ocean. Camping, fishing, I’m your man. Pack up the gear, pack up the Mystery Machine – I call shotgun. I’m house trained, and crate trained for the night or the minutes of the day you have to be away. Do you have a family? I will love them too! The more love there is, the better! I especially love the little humans – they have such big hearts for dogs (and sometimes they even have Scooby Snack for me!) So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get this show on the road!

Scrappy is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is house and crate trained, rides well in a car, and is learning to walk on a leash but does want to pull. He is respectful of his home and does not chew on your things. He is best suited in a home as your single companion and with older children. After years of being alone, he would be best in a home where someone is around a majority of the time where he could be the Star of your life. If you are interested in giving Scrappy a lead role, please fill out an application at: http://www.labrescuefresno.org/

And from all of us at the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, we thank you for being part of the solution. Please spread the word – Dogs are a 15 year commitment – not yard art.
