Larry

Larry – Black Male, 7 years.

Hey. I’m Larry. How you doin’? Are you looking for a handsome addition to your family? A refined, middle-aged gentleman with exquisite tastes? Someone who will welcome you home to a home-cooked meal every night and who will dream of you when you’re gone? I’m ready for commitment, and I hope you are, too.

I’ve been living with a really nice family for the last few weeks. They opened their home to me when I was down on my luck. I was living in a shelter, and it was scary. I reached out to rescues all over California, but no one would help me out. My time was running out. Then the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno told me they had a place for me.

When I finally left the scary shelter, I was so skinny. I had been scared and too afraid to eat. But my new family has been helping me gain some weight. I’m starting to have the strength to enjoy my favorite hobbies again: chasing squirrels and the stray cats who come through my yard. I can jump about 6 feet in the air if there’s a squirrel in the tree, but don’t worry, I’d never jump your fence. I could never dream of leaving you. I even had a bit of cosmetic surgery to remove a growth from my eyelid. Maybe I’ll get back to modeling again.

Life has been good. But I know this home isn’t long-term. My foster family has a dog they adopted from the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, and she keeps telling me I’ll have my very own family soon. Maybe you’ll be my new family. If you might be, you should know a few things about me: I have the perfect lab personality. I love to give kisses. I love to meet new people. I’ll even give the vet a kiss!

I don’t like to talk about my life before the shelter, but I did live in a house, and you can tell because I have great manners. I never have an accident in the house, and you can trust me enough to leave me alone inside. I’ll just lay on the couch dreaming of you (if you’ll let me on the couch). I know how to sit and lay down, and I get along great with other dogs. I don’t like to play too rough, though. I’m mostly just interested in being your best friend. Maybe we can go for long walks together (I love walks, but you might need to teach me some more leash manners). I promise to get a big case of lab wiggles every time you come home, and whenever you look at me, I won’t be able to help but wag my tail. Oh, and I have a super cute white spot on my chest and neck that makes me a distinguished guy who everyone is talking about.

Larry is available for adoption through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. If you are interested in a new best buddy, please fill out an Adoption Application at www.labrescuefresno.org
