Fairy

Fairy– Calling All Rescue Hearts!
Yellow Female, 62 lbs, Age 9

Hi, I was named Fairy at the shelter, but my foster family calls me by a different name because they say I’m a Lady and need a Lady’s name! I say you can call me anything you want as long as you call me a member of the family! I may be a bit shy at first, but I spent too many years alone in a backyard and I want to make up for every minute of missed opportunity to love and be loved! I really don’t need much, just your love and kindness… and a belly rub. Please… will you consider adopting me?

My story is probably told thousands of times a day, but I am one of the lucky ones. You see, I spent years alone in a backyard watching life through a window. When one day I got out and picked up, no one came looking for me (although I think that this was a good thing.) I ended up in a rural shelter that works with rescues. They contacted the best of the best, the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. My life went from backyard boredom to the sweetness of a foster home and family who love watching me blossom. There is no price I could ever put on this, ever! And now dreams coming ture they promise to find me a family that will make up for the years of lonesomeness with lots of love and kindness… I am blessed! Because I know I will need a very special type of family, one with a Rescuers Heart, filled with compassion, kindness and understanding.

You see, at first, they thought I might have something called Cushings … not to be confused with a cushion. Lucky for me, tests came back negative, but there is still a bit of a mass, not thought to be cancer. It is also not known if I am spayed, and due to my age it has to wait. But when you are no longer young, every second matters and is a precious thing! I want my own home, I have so much bottled up love I need to share. And I have learned there is so much that I have missed – from four legged friends, to toys, to most important, loves and belly rubs and all matter of pettings! I am respectful and easy and house trained, and I have to say, smell pretty good! I have nothing but kindness, be you a cat, dog or people, I am friend to all – a true lady dog. I really require little beyond a place in the family. I know sit, stay, come, down and crate. My only vice is I may sneak a treat – if I can reach it off a counter space. But, please, don’t be too harsh, I was 9 before I found out what a treat was! Please, oh please, can you make my remaining years sweet? No one should die never knowing the kindness mankind can bring.

Fairy is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. This house-trained girl is sweet and gentle and gets along with people, dogs and even cats. Despite some health issues, she requires little beyond a bit of time to trust, plenty of love, a soft place to sleep and light exercise. If you have room in your heart and home to give this girl the years of lost loving she is determined to make up for, the reward will be boundless love.
