Cody– From the Heartbreak Collection

Seeking Adoption

Yellow Male, 65lbs, Age 9ish

Remember me? I’m back and better than ever thanks to all of you out there in the Land of The Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno! The world is so full of new and wondrous things – I feel as if I have just been born. I am really digging the soft stuff under my feet – carpet, I think. The cooling air despite the outdoor heat. Having plenty of good food has filled out my frame to the point I am actually growing into my feet! Hugs and kisses and a soft place to sleep – I know I’m in Heaven. After nine-long years alone and forgotten, I say a prayer of thanks at every bedtime.

If you remember me before I was found by you Defenders of Dogs my eyes told the tale of years spent in a concrete and dirt hole alone, little protection from the heat and cold. My emaciated body told the tale of not enough food -what little energy I had, deleted by hundreds of biting, sucking bugs. Somehow I ended up at a scary place called the pound. But now the bugs are gone, their sickness eradicated by medicine from my blood. Now feeling like a dog again, ready to try the world again, wonderful hope and promises given by those of you who believed in me and that I mattered.

Now I am looking to find my forever home, someplace where I can live and grow old in love and comfort. I’m really an easy-going guy, but I do like it on the quite side. House trained, well past the terrible two’s and destructive chews, I am happy with a walk and a belly rub, a soft place to sleep and regular chow. If you would please let me stay near you, by your side, to soak up your love that has been so missing from my life. I know you are out there, I have come so far to find you. You see, there is no greater gift than to have a home and love of your own. Is that too much to ask of this world? Please, adopt me and let me begin again.

A big thank you to all of our supporters of The Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. Thanks to you, Cody has had the much need medical attention he needed after a life of neglect. Now, we are looking for that perfect home to allow Cody to live a life of love and comfort and to be the king of his castle. If you ever wanted to be a foster but can’t bear the thought of falling in love and giving them up, and getting a super cool dog in a Walter Matthau kind of way at the same time, now is your golden opportunity. After all, we may not be able to change the world, but you could change the world for Cody. Cody is best suited in a quieter home with him being the king of his castle. Cody does not like to share his food with other dogs, so we think he would be best as an only. He would be a wonderful companion for a retired couple or single. Or perhaps a family with older children. If you would like to open your home and heart to him, please visit our website:

Thank You, The Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno
