Buckaroo – The Bonanza Collection

Black Male, 1 Year 70 lbs

Mama always said “don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” Boy, does that ever translate to me, Buckaroo! Even my photographer through up her hands and said she couldn’t capture the uniqueness of me on film! You see, when I was made, they took my Lab body and gave me brindle socks to keep me warm. I was also blessed with nun ears to hear every detail so that I know when my family needs me near. And, best of all, and Angel kiss on my chest, the cherry on top of the rest. And my heart? Why, that of a Labrador for sure! And do you know what every Labrador’s dream is? To be part of a family! Won’t you let this Buckaroo be your sidekick?

My story? It is a sad tale, very familiar to all of the rescue groups. It begins, as it always does, with people who don’t know enough to spay and neuter their pups. People not responsible enough to keep us safe. Unwanted litters, so many of us it becomes overwhelming and shelters become the choice of their carelessness. Lucky for me, I ended up in the San Joaquin Shelter – the Little Shelter that Could. With limited space, and my large size, they kept me as long as they were able, then, seeing what a sweet young gentledog I was, so full of life and love, rather than euthanize me, they reached out to rescues, and now I am saved. The rescue cleaned me up and addressed an eye injury. Gave me the spit and polish to be ready to be adopted. Now, thanks to my Heroes of the Labrador Retriever Recue of Fresno, I am not Santa’s Helper in Heaven but here on this Earth to spend many more years as your own Holiday Buckaroo.

Everyone will tell you, my specialness is something that you just have to meet in person to get the full picture, the sum of me being much greater than the parts. My foster mom will explain I am one easy-going Buckaroo, smart as a whip, ready and eager to learn. I am great in the car and in the crate. I also love to tell my cowboy tales, vocalizing them softly in my doggy song. I do so love people, especially those who give me a pet. And if you are nice I’ll make sure my head is under your palm, ready for a caress. I get along my four legged doggies friends, but have never been taught to play – something I look forward to more with each passing day. I know it doesn’t seem much, but I promise this Buckaroo’s heart will always be loyal and true, something that can’t be captured on paper of film.. Please adopt me and make all my Christmas wishes come true!

Buckaroo is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. A sweet, loving, dog, this big boy requires love, training and regular exercise to make the transition from the range to your home. He gets along with other dogs but should be in a cat-free home. If you ever wanted to be a part of rescue, and have a loving, stable home to share, the time is now and Buckaroo is your guy!
