About Us

Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue has been rescuing and re-homing Labrador Retrievers since 1998. We obtained our 501(c)(3) status in 2002. The primary source of our Labs is from City and County Shelters. We are an all volunteer organization covering the Sacramento area, Tracy, Los Banos, east to Placerville and south to Merced. Now with the addition of the Fresno Chapter, we are servicing Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Mariposa and Madera counties.

There is a huge number of Labradors ending up at the Fresno SPCA and surrounding area rural shelters. As so many Labs are being surrendered or abandoned due to the large number of foreclosures in Fresno County. As a direct result our resources are severely strained. We give every Lab a veterinary exam, inoculations, test for parasites, heartworm, microchip, and spay/neuter. We fix broken bones and provide care for the neglected and abandoned dog. We take in senior and special needs Labs and provide for foster care until we can place them in forever homes.

We are currently working on fundraising for veterinary expenses, dog food and to further educate people about the importance of spay and neuter. Since the latter part of 2008 and due to the tremendous pet overpopulation in Fresno County, we have begun holding adoption events locally. We are truly grateful to the River Park Management for setting up an “Animal Adoption Center” for us to hold our adoption events. Those adoption events are held every Sunday. In addition, we participate in other specialty events such as Big Hat Days, Clovis Fest, Discovery Center Egg Fest, Super Adoption Days, and the Animal Section of the Fresno Home and Garden Show.
